The Health Benefits of Green Tea

Tea is one of the most Valuable and Widely Consumed Beverages in the world. Not only is it a delicious and inexpensive drink that is zero calorie, but it also contains a unique array of natural chemicals that provide multiple therapeutic benefits. With increasing research, teas, especially black and green ones, show significant antiviral, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-caries properties

Oral Health

Together with the natural fluoride found in tea, polyphenols and catechins are associated with eliminating bacteria that cause tooth decay, bad breath and gum disease, the leading cause of tooth loss. A study published this year by the European Journal of Nutrition found that consuming one or more cups of green tea per day was significantly associated with a reduced risk of tooth loss. However, adding sugar, honey, or other sweeteners to tea can negate these benefits.

Bone health

Routine tea consumption, particularly for more than 10 years, has been associated with a reduced risk of osteoporosis-related fractures. Tea is believed to help slow bone loss through antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. In addition, the tea’s health-promoting properties are believed to suppress bone loss while increasing the number and activity of bone-forming cells.

Weight Loss

The evidence in this area is still inconclusive, but it is believed that the catechins found in tea, particularly green tea, produce thermogenesis, the production of heat in the body that is related to the burning of calories. These compounds can inhibit certain chemicals in the brain, which prolongs thermogenesis. In one study, participants who drank four cups of tea per day had significantly higher fat oxidation (by 12 percent) and burned an average of 67 extra calories per day. Drink at least three cups a day is recommended to increase the body’s metabolic rate.

Cancer

Extensive research has shown that tea is beneficial in preventing cancer, including prostate, pancreas, breast, colon, oesophagus, bladder, lung and stomach cancer. The Catechins contained in tea prevent cell mutations, deactivate certain carcinogens, reduce the formation and growth of tumors. It may be necessary to drink up to four cups a day to reap the anti-cancer benefits. Some people also choose to combine it with blessed CBD oil or other medicinal marijuana products to give themselves an impulse.

Heart health

Tea Consumption is also associated with a lower risk of heart disease and Stroke. Research published by Harvard shows that people who drink at least one cup of tea a day have a 44% lower risk of heart attack. Some animal studies have shown that tea also lowers cholesterol.

  • Before you start drinking tea, there are a few things you should know:
  • Some research has shown that regular tea is more beneficial than decaffeinated tea
  • Brewed tea has more beneficial properties than instant tea
  • Tea bags contain the same beneficial properties as loose leaf tea.
  • To reap the full health benefits, steep the tea for at least 3 minutes.
  • The health benefits of tea diminish over time; It is best to drink freshly brewed tea that is hot (but not boiling hot)
